Based on the BioAssay Ontology (BAO) we have created the first version of an Assay Annotation Template to annotate assays with controlled terminology. We also worked out the process of creating and maintaining the annotation template with version control. Details are included in the documentation:

We will be able to quickly modify/optimize this template and to add any missing terms. In the next version we will include terminology for fields that are not specified in this version. It should be straight-forward to combine the Assay Annotation Template with a spreadsheet-based PubChem template in order to easily upload detailed assay annotations to PubChem.
